OPENSTEPS PRIVACY & SAFETY
We collect less, on purpose.
This plain-language policy explains how OpenSteps handles information when you create an account, save opportunities, or request general guidance. It should be reviewed with a qualified local adviser before a public launch.
What an account stores
To provide an OpenSteps account, the account service handles your email address and securely protected password. OpenSteps stores only your saved opportunities and application-checklist progress.
What we do not ask for
- Passwords for other websites or application portals
- Bank or mobile-money details
- Government identity numbers, passport copies, school transcripts, or identity documents
- Private medical, legal, or financial information
How information is used
Your account information is used only to operate your account, keep your selected progress available, and respond to a guidance request when you choose to email OpenSteps. OpenSteps does not sell student data or use it for advertising.
Young students
Accounts are intended for students aged 13 and above. Students under 13 should ask a parent, caregiver, teacher, or trusted adult to contact OpenSteps. OpenSteps does not arrange private meetings with minors and does not request sensitive documents.
Your choices
You can remove items from your shortlist at any time. To request account deletion, email opensteps@protonmail.com from the account email address. We will verify the request before deleting the account and its stored progress.
Safety limits
OpenSteps provides general educational guidance only. We cannot guarantee admission, funding, scholarships, visas, or other outcomes. Always use official providers to apply and verify current requirements.
